About 20 minutes from Lake Arrowhead
Running Springs is the “Gateway to the San Bernardino Mountains”. Situated at the junction between SR-18 and SR-330, it is the major gateway from Lake Arrowhead and Skyforest — to Arrowbear, Green Valley Lake and Big Bear. Running Springs also got its start in logging and it’s a popular forest adventure area all year-round.
Winters are filled with ski and snow play at Snow Valley Ski Resort and Rim Nordic (Southern California’s only cross-country ski area). In Spring and Summer these resorts offer unique mountain biking experiences. Pali Adventures and Pali Institute (an outdoor education program) offer programs that take advantage of this vast forest setting.
From May through September Running Springs is host to the local Farmer’s Market & Artisan Faire. You’ll want to shop at Rustique Furniture and Sugar Mountain Candy Shop for local Running Springs Faire. Black Dog Shoppe in Green Valley Lake hosts entertainment, food and local faire.
The Children’s Forest and Children’s Exploration Trail are an easy ½ mile trail for a family hike. If you enjoy rock climbing, Keller Peak trail can take you to the lookout.
Coyote Rock Trail, Siberia Creek Trail and Little Green Valley Trail are also popular Running Springs hikes. Pacific Crest Trail also runs through Running Springs.
