Located 10 minutes from Lake Arrowhead
Twin Peaks is known as the gateway to Lake Arrowhead, strategically located 10 minutes from both Lake Gregory and Lake Arrowhead.
Like most of the communities in the San Bernardino Mountains, Twin Peaks has been around since the 1880’s and started to take on it’s own character in the 1900’s. While other communities have their roots in logging and lumber, Twin Peaks has its roots in strawberries grown as early as 1865. Early photos of the area show an abundance of trees and wide-open spaces known as “Strawberry Flats”. Today you can experience some of the history with a hike to Strawberry Peak Fire Lookout Tower.
In 1919, The Antlers cottages and lodge was constructed and today you can enjoy the same cozy lodge feeling and some of the finest cuisine the mountains offer at The Grill at Antler’s Inn restaurant.
Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins are an integral part of Twin Peaks history, the DuFour’s bought the property in 1993 and renovated and preserved the historic cabins over the years. Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins provides a year-round cabin lodging experience and some of the most beautiful rustic weddings surrounded by creeks and ponds in the forest.
Bert Switzer, a forest ranger in the area (Switzer Park link) lived in one of the cabins that would eventually become Pine Rose Cabins. Switzer planted cedar trees on the property called “pine roses”.
Twin Peaks was also home to Clark Gable’s weekend fishing cabin.
