This campground is in an area with tall pines, oaks and cedar trees and is also a staging area for ATV/OHV Trails, where off-highway vehicle trails are nearby. Green Valley Lake is approximately six miles away from the campground and offers seasonal fishing, swimming, kayaking and more. Crab Flats has 28 sites (23 are reservable sites/5 are first-come-first-served) with a space length of 15 feet. They have tent camping, picnic tables, a campfire ring per site, toilets, and drinking water. Camping fee includes entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle. Driving Alert – Crab Flats is accessed via a 4-mile dirt road. There is no overflow parking, and no large RVs are allowed. Reservations can be made as early as 6 months or as late as 24 hours in advance by calling 1-877-444-6777 or through recreation.gov. A United States Forest Service Adventure Pass ($5 per day or $30 for the year) is required for parking.
Directions: From Running Springs, travel east toward Arrowbear on Hwy-18 to Green Valley Road. Turn left, drive approximately 4 miles to Crab Flats Campground sign. Turn left and continue about 4 miles to the campground.
